We knew we were going to Aúpa

The invitation to Aúpa Lumbreiras was already in the pocket. And with it a question: do we show up, play our usual set and go home, or do we make something the Spanish crowd will actually remember us for?

Michał wanted the second option. One song made on purpose for that occasion. In Spanish.

Why "Pij Browara" of all songs

The choice fell on one of our simplest songs. Michał still believes it would have done well in Poland, and as it turned out, it was lucky it never got properly promoted. It was free.

The problem: Michał does not speak Spanish

Singing one verse in Spanish on stage is one thing. Recording an entire song in a language you do not speak is something else entirely. Any Spaniard would hear straight away that the guy is butchering it. The result would be a curiosity, not a tribute to the scene.

That is where the idea came from that changed everything: invite Spanish singers. Not one. Four. People Michał had met along the way, among others at Viña Rock.

Three recorded their parts. The fourth did not make it in time, so Michał sang that fragment himself.

The niece who lived in Spain

Song lyrics are not translated like an instruction manual. The rhythm and the stresses have to line up, and above all it has to be singable, not recitable.

Michał sent the lyrics to Weronika, his niece, who was living in Spain at the time, plays guitar and sings. The brief was simple: translate it properly, not like Google Translate, and make it fit the melody.

That is how the first version was born: "Bébete una caña".

How you write to a legend

Kamikazes got a message on Instagram. Kaos Urbano was reached through Manuel, the sound engineer who works with both Boikot and them.

No label, no agency, no contact form. One musician writing to another.

All three said yes.

Manuel kept an eye on it to the end. The day before he got the dates mixed up, thought the session was on Monday, and wrote first thing in the morning to check whether David was going. On the afternoon of the 28th, when the photo of all three in the studio reached him, he answered with four words:

Juankar opens the doors

The trip was meant to be one recording session and nothing more. Juankar turned it into three days across the entire Madrid scene: a Boikot rehearsal, Fefe del Amo, who runs a sound engineering school in Madrid, and Jorge Garrido from GarridoRock Radio, who played 4dziki on air a month later.

Kike Babas was around too. He was the one who, seeing Michał after Viña Rock, said: "now I know why they wanted to invite you".

Thirty-four minutes over a sheet of paper

Before anyone went near a microphone, they sat down with the lyrics in front of them. There is a recording of it and it runs thirty-four minutes.

Native speakers start catching things you simply cannot hear from Wrocław. That this line sounds stiff. That a Spaniard would not put it that way. That "bébete una caña" works better as "bebe una cerveza".

At one point Michał suggests putting in something typically Polish, some beer brand from back home. And he gets the opposite of what he expected: that people here do not drink vodka the way you imagine either, that it is more whisky and beer.

Next to another line someone wrote in the margin: "is similar Kaos Urbano". Because in Spanish punk some phrases already have an owner, and it is better to know that before release than after.

The sheet was written with the Madrid-Wrocław boarding pass of 29 April lying next to it. Today it hangs framed.

Kosta's studio

28 April, the studio of Kosta, guitarist of Boikot. In one room Juankar (Boikot), SKU (Kaos Urbano) and Kata (Kamikazes).

A month later Kata heard the rough mix. He did not reply with "congratulations":

What this is really about

The song is not about beer.

It is about all of us being stuck in our phones, living other people's lives instead of our own. About scrolling through someone else's holidays, someone else's gigs and someone else's nights out, instead of being at our own.

And it is a thank-you to the people who come to the shows. To those who are there, who live it, who give energy and take it back.

A match instead of two eggs

The cover was still open. The first idea was two eggs: "AGARRA ESTE MOMENTO... CON HUEVOS". A pun where huevos are eggs and at the same time balls, as in having the guts. The cracked shell turned into a mohawk, and life hatching out of the egg was exactly what the song is about.

Michał sent it to SKU asking whether it would come across as sexist. The answer arrived in three minutes and is worth more than any analysis:

In the end the eggs were dropped, and not out of fear. They were dropped because it had been done before, and repeating someone else's idea on a cover is the worst thing you can do.

The second idea hit the mark: a burnt match with a mohawk. It burns briefly, shines hard and goes out. That is exactly what the song is about.

Hence what is written on the shirt: ANTES QUE SE APAGUE, before it goes out.

The video

With the guests spread between Madrid and Wrocław, shooting a video remotely was practically impossible. Hence the AI: not as a trendy gimmick, but as the only way to do it without gathering everyone in one place. With one added bonus: one hundred per cent of the creative work came out of Michał's hands.

What happens next

The single and the video are out on 5 August 2026.

Ten days later, on 15 August, the song is played live for the first time at Aúpa Lumbreiras in Villena. 4dziki is the first Polish band in the history of the festival.

And from there, who knows. If on the 15th the guests come up on stage and we sing it together, it will already have been worth it. And if the song really lands, maybe one day Boikot, Kaos Urbano or Kamikazes will put it in their own set. That would be the best possible ending for a song that started with a Pole writing to them on Instagram.
